George Crosby bought his winning $300,000,000 Cash Spectacular ticket at Ultra Foods at 13180 Cicero Ave. in Crestwood, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery.

He used a quarter to scratch the ticket at home, and initially thought it was at $1,000 prize. It wasn’t until he was at the Lottery Prize Center that he found out he had won a million dollars.

“My brother passed away after a long battle with ALS. Thanks to this lottery prize, I can make a donation to support the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease,” Crosby said in the statement.

Crosby, who lives in Blue Island, also plans to help his four brothers and sisters with the money.

The store will receive a $10,000 bonus, one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
