(BURR RIDGE) Three schools in west suburban Burr Ridge are on soft lockdown Friday afternoon as police pursue a burglary suspect in the area.

One suspect is already in custody for a residential burglary near 81st Court and Drew Avenue, Burr Ridge police said in a statement.

Police arrived about 1 p.m. and found two men inside the home, police said. Both ran away, but officers arrested one near County Line Road and Deer Path Trail.

The second suspect remains at large, and authorities continue to search for him Friday afternoon. Pleasantdale School, Gower Middle School and Burr Ridge Middle School are on “soft lock-down” status as a precaution.

Police had only a vague description of the suspect, but said he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black markings, and dark pants, police said.

He was last seen near 83rd Street and Deer Path Trail trying to hitch a ride, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
