A man was shot early Monday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

About 2 a.m., the 40-year-old was inside a lounge in the 7600 block of South Cottage Grove when at least two people entered the rear of the building and opened fire, striking the man in the chest, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. The suspects then fled the scene.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition stabilized, Greer said.

No one else was injured in the shooting.
