Among the projects director Mike Nichols was planning to tackle before his recent death was “Blind,” a film based on a script penned by the famed author Norman Mailer’s son, John Buffalo Mailer.

Now, the younger Mailer’s own brother — Michael Mailer — has been tapped to direct the movie, set to go in front of the cameras next April.

While Clive Owen, Russell Crowe and Uma Thurman were all attached when Nichols was still alive, it’s now assumed that others will step into roles in the independent feature. The storyline focuses on a very bitter, blind author and the woman assigned to read to him.
