It’s always good when a high-profile celebrity uses his fame to bring attention to important issues.

In this case it’s about the scourge of drunk driving.

Action star Dwayne Johnson turned to Twitter after his mother and cousin were injured in a crash caused by an apparently-intoxicated motorist last week.

First Johnson tweeted Saturday, “My mom and cousin were hit head on by a drunk driver. They lived. This was 100% preventable. #ChoicesMatter,” wrote the actor, posting a photo of the crashed cars along with the tweet.

Turning to Instagram on Sunday, Johnson wrote, “First reactionis to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them. But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days. Hug you own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them. #BearHugsAndGratitude.”
