SHARE Standard Bank branch robbed in Hegewisch

A Standard Bank branch was robbed Friday afternoon in the Hegewisch neighborhood on the Far South Side.

A man entered the Standard Bank, at 13336 S. Baltimore Ave., shortly before 5 p.m. and announced a robbery, said police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon. He ran out with an unspecified amount in cash.

The man did not show a weapon during the robbery and no one was injured, authorities said.

The FBI describes the robber as a white man, weighing about 220 pounds, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a baseball cap, a beige sweater and red flannel pants.
