Legendary singer Mavis Staples will be honored with a special tribute concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress.

Tickets for “I’ll Take You There — Celebrating 75 Years of Mavis Staples” go on sale Sept. 29 at ticketmaster.com

The music lineup for the star-studded event includes: Gregg Allman, Aaron Neville, Taj Mahal, Eric Church, Michael McDonald, Patty Griffin, Marty Stuart, Widespread Panic, Grace Potter, Glen Hansard and Ryan Bingham.

As a member of the iconic Staple Singers and as a solo artist, Staples brought gospel music to the masses and helped shed the spotlight on myriad social issues and charitable causes. Staples is also slated to perform during the event.

“There isn’t anyone Mavis doesn’t touch on a deep level,” said Grammy-winner Don Was, who will serve as the concert’s music director. “Not just musicians, but humans everywhere. She is truly one of the most powerful and inspiring American singers of all time.”
