An unidentified male was found dead with a gunshot wound Tuesday in northwest Indiana.

Officers discovered the white male with a gunshot wound to the chest at 23rd Avenue and Washington Street about 3:30 a.m., according to Gary Police Lt. Dawn Westerfield.

He was taken to Methodist Northlake Hospital in Gary, where he was pronounced dead at 4:25 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

He had no identification and his identity has not yet been determined, police said.
