Man shot at Evanston party

A Waukegan man is charged in connection with a shooting Friday night at a party in north suburban Evanston.

A fight broke out about 9:30 p.m. at a house party in the 1700 block of Monroe, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Joe Dugan.

During the fight, a 25-year-old man pulled out a handgun and shot a 23-year-old man in the leg, Dugan said.

The victim was taken to NorthShore University HealthSystem Evanston Hospital with a non-life-threatening wound, Dugan said.

Jeremy Howard, of Waukegan, was charged with reckless conduct, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, Dugan said. He is scheduled to appear at the Skokie courthouse April 30.

He was treated at Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston with non-life-threatening injuries that may have been sustained during the fight or from other people at the party after the shooting, according to Dugan.
