Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is expected on Monday to declare his intention to launch a 2016 presidential bid, is “absolutely unfit” to succeed President Barack Obama because of his views on climate change, according to one Democratic governor whose state has been plagued by severe drought.

Gov. Jerry Brown, D-California, was on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday morning and blasted Cruz for comments he made on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” last week, where he Cruz said “many of the alarmists on global warming, they’ve got a problem, because the science doesn’t back them up.”

“What he said is absolutely false,” Brown said, saying climate change has not only brought on California’s drought, but record snowfalls in parts of the Northeast.

“So, it’s climate disruption of many different kinds,” Brown said. “And that man betokens such a level of ignorance and a direct falsification of scientific data. It’s shocking and I think that man has rendered himself absolutely unfit to be running for office.”
