(HIGHLAND, Ind.) A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death during a bar fight early Sunday in northwest Indiana.

About 2 a.m., officers responding to a call of a fight involving 10 to 15 people at Franco’s of Highland, at 2712 Condit St., found the man in the bar’s vestibule “bleeding profusely,” said Highland Police Cmdr. George Georgeff.

The man, identified as Joshua Headley, had been stabbed in the chest during the fight, authorities said.

Headley, of the 900 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Munster, was taken to Munster Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m., according to a statement from the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

The NWI Major Crimes Task Force is investigating along with the Highland Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (219) 838-3181.
