A city Water Department employee was shot Thursday morning in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 40-year-old man was in the 3000 block of South Komensky at 11:30 a.m. when two males walked up and fired shots in his direction, police said.

He was shot in the upper left chest and hand, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

The man is an employee of city’s Water Department, spokesman Peter Scales confirmed. Scales declined to provide additional details.
