Man shot on Near West Side

A man was shot Sunday morning on the Near West Side.

The 32-year-old man was outside in the 1600 block of West Lake Street about 5:50 a.m. when an armed male walked up and opened fire, police said.

The gunman ran off after the shooting, which happened near Union Park.

The man was shot in the torso and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
