A man may have tried to lure a child into a vehicle Thursday morning in northwest suburban Schaumburg, police said.

The grammar-school aged child was walking alone near Sagamore and Barcliffe roads about 8:30 a.m. when the man stopped his vehicle and allegedly asked twice whether the child wanted a ride, according to a statement from Schaumburg police.

The child said no and ran away, and the man drove off eastbound on Sagamore, police said. He was last seen headed southbound on Salem Drive.

The man was described as a 25 to 35-year-old man, possibly of Indian descent, with short black hair and dark skin, police said. He was wearing a gray sweat shirt and driving a black, four-door Honda Civic or Honda Accord.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigators at (847) 882-3534.
