The season premiere of “America’s Got Talent” doesn’t air till Tuesday, but one competitor from Chicago is already having a breakout moment.

A hypnotist who goes by chrisjones (no word, please, and no capitals) stars in promos for the popular NBC talent show that are now airing.

The clip from Tuesday’s episode shows him putting judge Howie Mandel in a trance and convincing him everyone is wearing thin gloves. The germophobic comedian, who famously refuses to shake anyone’s hand, awakes and freely takes the hands of fellow judges Heidi Klum, Mel Brown and Howard Stern.

As the crowd whoops, Mandel keeps asking, “Why is everybody laughing?”

The hypnotist, a South Sider, is also a comedian and magician who works the college circuit. He is scheduled to perform Aug. 21 at the University of St. Francis in Joliet.

“America’s Got Talent,” beginning its 10th season, is again spotlighting variety acts competing for a $1 million prize.
