Major League Baseball provided an update on the American League All-Star race Tuesday, and the Royals are about to lap the rest of the field.
Thanks to some solid ballot stuffing from Royals fans, five Kansas City players are leading their respective positions in the balloting.
Shortstop Alcides Escobar has received 1,191,268 votes, putting him nearly 400,000 votes ahead of the Tigers’ Jose Iglesias. Third baseman Mike Moustakas is at 1,261,769 votes, giving him a sizable lead over Josh Donaldson.
Catcher Salvador Perez, an All-Star each of the last two seasons, is leading his position with 1,447,753 votes.
And outfielder Lorenzo Cain has received more votes than any other outfielder with 1,376,217. Alex Gordon is third on the list with 991,606 votes.
The only White Sox presence in the top five anywhere is first baseman Jose Abreu, who currently sits in fourth place with 222,288 votes. He’s more than a million votes behind leader Miguel Cabrera.
Fans can submit up to 35 ballots each via the online balloting here.
