Police are cautioning Austin neighborhood residents after two vehicular hijackings were reported in the West Side neighborhood in the last three weeks.
According to an alert issued by Area North detectives, the hijackings occurred about 6:50 a.m. on May 9 in the 5100 block of West Huron and about 11:36 p.m. on May 22 in the 5100 block of West Ohio.
In the Huron Street incident, a black man between 30 and 40 years old waited for the victim to get out of their vehicle before demanding their keys and driving off, police said.
Two suspects used the same methods were used in the Ohio Street hijacking, but they were only described as males, police said.
