A 20-year-old man was charged with having a knife that looked like a revolver outside a west suburban High School Thursday.

Officers responded to a call of a man with a gun about 1:50 p.m. at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., and arrested Xavier McRedmond, according to a statement from Elgin police.

McRedmond, who is not a student at the school, was in the parking lot with a knife that looked like a gun, police said. While McRedmond attempted to resist arrest, he was ultimately taken into custody a short time later.

McRedmond, of the 300 block of Hawthorne in Elgin, was charged with disorderly conduct for alarming and disturbing behavior and resisting arrest, police said.
