Three people were wounded in an early morning shooting Friday on the Dan Ryan Expressway that left several southbound lanes shut down for several hours on the South Side.

About 1:10 a.m., someone in a light-colored Lincoln fired shots at another car in the southbound lanes near 57th Street, Illinois State Police said.

Three of the occupants were struck, and the driver drove to St. Bernard Hospital, where they were treated for “non-life-threatening injuries,” police said. Two other occupants in the car were unharmed.

Only one lane was open between 43rd and 59th streets for several hours, but all lanes were reopened about 4:25 a.m., police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the car is asked to contact Illinois State Police District Chicago at (847) 294-4400.
