A Chicago man was shot to death in south suburban South Holland on Friday.

Sergio Varela, 42, was shot multiple times some time Friday in the 0-100 block of East 157th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead just after noon.

An autopsy ruled the shooting a homicide. Varela lived in the 2700 block of South St. Louis, according to the medical examiner’s office.

On Saturday, South Holland police said they had no information to release about the shooting.
