Chicago Sun-Times Blackhawks beat writer Mark Lazerus posed the notion of the Stanley Cup champions parting ways with Patrick Kane, who is part of a criminal investigation in Buffalo. The reaction from social media was massive and mixed.
It’s still uncertain if the Hawks are seriously considering trading Kane in light of an ongoing police investigation in Hamburg, N.Y. But if they are, they won’t have any trouble finding any takers. At least five teams contacted the Hawks once the Buffalo News first reported the investigation — which involves Kane and a woman at his Hamburg home — and said they’d be willing trade partners should the Hawks decide to cut ties with their superstar winger, according to a league source. The 26-year-old is entering the first year of a record-setting eight-year, $84-million contract.
Here’s how Twitterverse reacted:
@MarkLazerus Good read Mark. Old saying " Front of jersey is more important than the back of it."

Don't trade kane, just remove him from the universe entirely

The fact that some fans can't understand why the Hawks would trade Kane is crazy. Take your head out of hockey for a minute and think.

The most mind-blowing thing about this Patrick Kane story is that MULTIPLE teams contacted the Hawks about a trade AFTER this came out

Well i mean the Hawks have traded Saad and Sharp. Sure why not try to trade Kane and totally rip our hearts out?

The return the Hawks would receive in a Kane trade would be mind boggling. The amount of high picks and top prospects....

the kane thing is difficult to work through for the hawks organization but it's true, we might really have to trade the guy

But for the love of God. Don't trade Patrick Kane.
