The Cubs didn’t play Thursday, but they did get some good news. With the Giants losing, the Cubs magic number drops to just one game.

San Francisco took a one run lead in the fifth inning against the Padres that last until the eighth inning. However, San Diego tied it up and in the ninth get the game winner.

The Cubs Twitter account celebrated by releasing the news in a very blunt way.

The Cubs can clinch their Wild Card spot Friday afternoon during their game against the Pirates. A win would be important for the Cubs for a few reasons. Not only would they clinch their spot, but move a step closer earning home field advantage.

Pittsburgh and the Cubs take the field Friday at 1:20 at Wrigley Field.
