If Cubs fans liked the offseason additions of Jason Heyward, John Lackey and Ben Zobrist, they’re going to love their latest.

Munenori Kawasaki, 34, a career .234 hitter who has hit one home run in four MLB seasons with the Blue Jays and Mariners, signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on Thursday.

Don’t let the stats fool you. “Muni” will be with the Cubs in Spring Training, and if the utility infielder ever does make it to Wrigley Field, fans will go crazy over his unbridled enthusiasm.
