Long day of reporting on several Battle of Vincennes related issues. Finished up the day with a kinda scary incident at Seton. I’m running on fumes so lets get right to the games.

Tonight’s top games

Proviso West 56, No. 10 Glenbard West 50: The 15-game winning streak is over. The Panthers are solid, figured this could be close. Will be very difficult to decide what to do with the Hilltoppers in the Super 25. They don’t have a major win.

No. 16 Benet 40, St. Viator 39: The Redwings survive. I wasn’t super impressed when I saw Viator earlier this year, but it is possible that Loyola mucked that game up beyond anything salvageable. Might need to take another look at the Lions.

Bradley-Bourbonnais 55, Lincoln-Way Central 46: Much-needed win for the Boilermakers. But it is going to be hard to take them seriously as major contenders in March until they stop playing up or down to the level of competition.

No. 12 North Lawndale 62, Farragut 61 OT: Fun finish in this one. Martrell Barnes nailed a three at the OT buzzer. The Admirals’ epic slide continues.

No. 5 Evanston 66, Waukegan 56: Wildkits win the tuneup for tomorrow’s big one against Young. Nojel Eastern had 19 points and 8 rebounds.

Lake Forest 51, No. 17 Zion-Benton 46: Scouts beat Z-B for the second time this season. Lorenzo Edwards scored 27 points.

Manley 75, Douglass 50: Manley is very good about reporting their scores. And every single game this guy named Lamar Crenshaw that I know nothing about scores a bunch of points. He had 30 tonight. I’m intrigued.

Rich South 62, Crete-Monee 35: Just when it looked like Crete-Monee has turned the corner they drop a stinker. Scot Ritter is a very good coach, always pulls a couple upsets every season.

Warren 55, No. 22 Stevenson 46: Speaking of upsets. Looks like the Patriots’ time in the Super 25 may be brief. I watched the Blue Devils at Pontiac and thought they were more capable than their record indicated. Maurice Chambers scored 21.

Marian Catholic 55, Joliet Catholic 44: The Hilltoppers trailed by 20 at one point. Looks like they aren’t ready for the Super 25 just yet.

The massive pop culture convention runs through Sunday at McCormick Place.
With all the important priorities the state has to tackle, why should Springfield rush to help the billionaire McCaskey family build a football stadium? The answer: They shouldn’t. The arguments so far don’t convince us this project would truly benefit the public.
Art
“Chryssa & New York” is the first museum show in North America in more than four decades to spotlight the artist. It also highlights her strong ties to Chicago’s art world.
If these plans for new stadiums from the Bears, White Sox and Red Stars are going to have even a remote chance of passage, teams will have to drastically scale back their state asks and show some tangible benefits for state taxpayers.
The Bears put the figure at $4.7 billion. But a state official says the tally to taxpayers goes even higher when you include the cost of refinancing existing debt.
