Pau Gasol is having a nice season, there is no doubt about that, but he fell just short in the NBA’s annual popularity contest. The Bulls center fell just a few hundred votes short in the All-Star Game voting.

According to the final results, which were released over the weekend, LeBron James, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony will start in the Eastern Conference front court. Gasol was just 360 votes behind Anthony for the last spot.

From NBA.com:

Eastern Conference Frontcourt 1 LeBron James (Cle) 1,089,206 2 Paul George (Ind) 711,595 3 Carmelo Anthony (NY) 567,348 4 Pau Gasol (Chi) 566,988

Gasol will very likely still reach the All-Star Game as a bench player. He has five ASG appearances already in his career, once with each of the three teams he’s played with. Last season was his first time as a starter.

Both Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose were both among the top 10 vote getters for eastern conference guards. Butler had the fourth most with 564,637 votes and Rose had 302,389. Both were a large distance from the eventual starters. Dwyane Wade and Kyle Lowry are the two remaining Eastern Conference starters.
