A 50-year-old man was shot in the leg Monday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

About 5 p.m., he was standing in front of a home in the 5000 block of South Racine when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been hit, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
