A northwest suburban Mount Prospect is facing charges after he allegedly fired his AR-15 into the ground near his home Thursday.

Zachary Reed, 19, was charged with two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, according to a statement from Mount Prospect police. He lives in the 400 block of South See Gwun Avenue.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 400 block of South See Gwun Avenue, police said. They later learned that Reed had fired his rifle “into the ground near the driveway of his residence in the presence of others.”

His bond was set at $40,000 Thursday, police said. His next court date is Nov. 28.
