A man was seriously wounded in a shooting Friday morning in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

At 10:55 a.m., a 25-year-old man was walking northbound in the 8000 block of South Cottage Grove when someone in a maroon vehicle drove past and fired shots striking him in the right knee, according to Chicago Police. The vehicle drove away eastbound on 80th Street.

He taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was in serious condition, police said.

A police source said the man is a convicted felon on parole.
