A person who was shooting at a vehicle is in custody early Saturday after an off-duty Chicago Police officer fired shots in the South Loop.

At 12:20 a.m., the officer saw a male, whose age was unknown, running after a car and shooting at it in the 1200 block of South Wabash, according to Chicago Police.

The officer announced himself and then fired shots, police said. No one was struck.

The suspect continued to run away, but was soon taken into custody, police said.
