A 27-year-old pregnant woman was critically hurt and a 29-year-old man wounded in a Jeffery Manor neighborhood shooting Sunday afternoon on the Far South Side.

They were outside about 3:45 p.m. in the 9600 block of South Brennan Avenue when a masked gunman in a passing vehicle opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The woman was shot in the chest and abdomen and taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. She is pregnant, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The man suffered a leg wound. His condition was stabilized at the same hospital, police said.
