Kicker Robbie Gould will be honored as the Bears’ 2016 Ed Block Courage Award recipient Tuesday at the team’s annual luncheon at Maryville Academy in Des Plaines.
Last season was a record-setting one for Gould, who is currently the longest-tenured Bears player. He broke the franchise record for most field goals in a career in Week 1 against the Packers and later set a new mark for career points in Week 5 against the Chiefs.
Gould accounted for 127 points in 2015, including 33 field goals, which also were a new single-season record for the Bears. He has 1,207 points in his career, making 276 field goals and 379 extra points.
Gould, 34, is currently the ninth most accurate kicker in NFL history, making 85.4 percent of his field goals.
The Ed Block award is presented to one player on each team. It’s voted on by teammates and honors a player who embodies professionalism and dedication and is considered role model in the community.
