A man shot to death in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side on Tuesday evening has been identified.

Deangelo Diggines, 20, was standing in the 7700 block of South Aberdeen about 5:49 p.m. when someone got out of an SUV and shot him in the back before driving off, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound to the torso, and the death was ruled a homicide.

Diggines’ home address was unknown, according to the medical examiner’s office.
