Man fatally shot in Gary

A 20-year-old man died Thursday after he was shot in Gary, Indiana.

Warren Gates was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at 5:35 p.m. after he was shot in the 2100 block of West Fifth Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Sunday found that he died of a gunshot wound to the neck and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said. Gates lived in the 100 block of Rutledge Street in Gary.

Gary police could not immediately be reached for more details.
