A 73-year-old man was shot Friday afternoon while driving through the South Shore neighborhood.

He was driving in the 6700 block of South Jeffery at 2:49 p.m. when someone in a dark SUV fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

The shots went through the vehicle’s windshield and he was struck in the right cheek, police said. He was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital.

Police said the man is not believed to be the intended target of the shooting.
