It’s been a crazy year for Addison Russell. In just one year, the Cubs shortstop has been called up to the big leagues, become a star, had his second child and is now married.
Russell married his long-time girlfriend Melisa Reidy over the weekend in Florida.
Russell wasn’t the only baseball player involved in the celebration. Standing up as a groomsman was Oakland A’s minor leaguer Matt Olson, Tampa Bay farm hand Daniel Robertson and Cubs minor league outfielder Billy McKinney, who came to the Cubs in the same trade with Oakland as Russell.
In September Russell and Reidy welcomed the couple’s first child, a boy named Aiden. Russell also has a second child, a baby girl named Mila.
Russell isn’t the only young Cubs player to have an eventful offseason. After being named the National League Rookie of the Year, Kris Bryant proposed to his girlfriend, Jessica Delp.
