Nine innings, 162 days a year makes for a lot of time to talk. However, Ken “Hawk” Harrelson seems to find new ways to talk himself into strange comparisons.
Monday night, Harrelson started talking about rookie infielder Tyler Saladino. That’s when a very unexpected comparison was thrown out. Harrelson compared Saladino to Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson.
Hawk comparing Saladino to Brooks Robinson is a lot more scary when you consider he was a general manager.

That is, to put it lightly, a pretty outrageous comparison. Robinson is one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Not only was he an elite hitter, but arguably the best glove of his generation.
Robinson won 16 consecutive Gold Glove awards at third base. The fact that Robinson and Saladino both play third base is about their only similarity, so far.
Saladino does appear to be an above average fielder. However, at only 26-years-old with 31 games, it’s impossible to tell what kind of a player he really is.
This is not the first time Harrelson has compared a White Sox player to an all-time great, but it is one of the most ridiculous.
