A man was critically wounded in a shooting Wednesday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The 24-year-old man was shot in the chest in the 8400 block of South Mackinaw about 7:20 a.m., according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The circumstances of the shooting are unknown, but police said the man is a documented gang member.
