2 dead in unincorporated McHenry crash

Two people were killed in a crash Saturday evening in unincorporated McHenry.

John S. Korkowski, 67, and his wife, Claire D. Korkowski, 59, of Spring Grove were both killed in the crash on Solon Road near Ringwood Road, according to the McHenry County coroner’s office. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash occurred when a vehicle driven by John S. Korkowski was struck by another vehicle as it reentered the roadway in the southbound lane of Solon Road, according to the coroner’s office. Claire Korkowski was a passenger in the vehicle driven by her husband.

Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday to determine cause of death.

The McHenry County sheriff’s department is investigating the crash and did not immediately respond to a request for additional information Sunday afternoon.

McHenry is located about 53 miles from Chicago.
