Man killed in Illinois 394 crash in Glenwood

Excessive speed is thought to have played a role in a fatal crash early Wednesday on Illinois 394 in south suburban Glenwood, police said.

About 2:10 a.m., a red 2006 Lamborghini was speeding south on Illinois 394 when it passed another vehicle on the left, swerved right, lost control, drove off into a grassy ditch and struck a tree near East Glenwood-Lansing Road, according to Illinois State Police.

The driver, 29-year-old Joseph A. Rodgers of Schererville, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was the only person in the vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

All southbound lanes of Illinois 394 were closed to traffic in the area until about 4:40 a.m.
