A driver was injured Thursday night when he struck the side of a semitrailer on the Veterans Memorial Tollway near west suburban Woodridge.

He was driving an SUV that struck the semitrailer about 7:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate near plaza 89, Illinois State Police said.

The SUV’s driver, whose age was unknown, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, state police said.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured, police said. Neither vehicle had passengers.

The semitrailer was tipped over and leaning on a median wall, police said. Two light poles were knocked down and debris from the crash was in the roadway.
