Man, 25, shot to death in East Garfield Park

A man was shot and killed Friday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago Police said.

Adonis L. Johnson, 25, was walking about 1:15 p.m. in the 3200 block of West Maypole when someone inside a dark-colored vehicle fired shots, striking him in the head and chest, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Johnson was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:48 p.m., authorities said. He lived a block away from where he was shot.

Area North detectives were investigating.
