Man killed in Bridgeview crash

A motorcyclist died Friday night following a crash in southwest suburban Bridgeview.

Officers responded at 10:26 p.m. to a report of a crash in the 8700 block of Olympic Drive, according to Bridgeview village spokesman Ray Hanania and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Upon arrival, officers interviewed witnesses and determined that a motorcycle traveling east on 87th Street from Harlem crashed into a car traveling north on Olympic that was preparing to make a left turn to go west on 87th Street, Hanania said. The motorcycle was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side of the car.

Matthew Englehart, 30, suffered multiple injuries, including severe head trauma, authorities said.

Englehart, who lived in Burbank, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 10:50 p.m. Friday, authorities said. An autopsy Saturday found he died from his injuries and his death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the vehicle was a 17-year-old girl, Hanania said. The crash remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
