Three people were taken into custody after two men were wounded in a shooting Wednesday morning in north suburban Zion.
The men, ages 18 and 25, were shot about 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and Joppa Avenue, according to Zion police. The men then drove themselves to the Zion Police Department at 2101 Salem Blvd. as officers were responding to the scene of the shooting.
The men, both of whom had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, were taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life threatening injuries, according to police and the Zion Fire Department.
Witnesses reported seeing several people run from the scene of the shooting into a home in the 2300 block of Joanna Avenue, police said. Two people were believed to have then left the home.
After a perimeter was set up with assistance from the Lake County sheriff’s office and Winthrop Harbor police, one person was taken into custody, police said. The other person who reportedly left the home was not located, but two other people were found in the home and taken into custody.
Preliminary information suggests the men who were wounded knew the shooter or shooters, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
