A man found dead Sunday morning in a parking lot in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove has been identified as a Chicago resident.

Police and paramedics responded about 9:05 a.m. to the 600 block of Trace Drive in Buffalo Grove, where a man was reported to be on the ground outside the Buffalo Ridge Apartments, according to Buffalo Grove police.

Jameson P. Beckett, 45, was discovered fully-clothed with facial injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:20 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in Chicago.

An autopsy Monday did not rule on cause and manner of his death, with results pending further studies, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Due to signs of trauma, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force initially assisted with the investigation, but police now believe he died of a drug overdose.

Buffalo Grove police will complete the investigation.
