All northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway were reopened Thursday evening following a shooting that left two people wounded on the South Side.

About 1:50 p.m., a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside a Hyundai sedan traveling north on Interstate 94 near 71st Street, according to Illinois State Police. Someone in the SUV fired shots, striking two males who were riding in the Hyundai.

About 15 minutes later, the males, whose ages were not immediately known, showed up at St. Bernard Hospital, state police said. They suffered injuries that weren’t believed to be life threatening and their conditions were stabilized.

Northbound lanes were closed until about 6:30 p.m. while state troopers investigated on the expressway, according to state police.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call state police at (847) 294-4400.
