A man was fatally wounded Friday night in a South Side Hyde Park neighborhood shooting.

Just before 9:30 p.m., 39-year-old Jeraun A. McRae was found on a sidewalk in the 5400 block of South Cornell with gunshot wounds to his head, chest and leg, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

McRae was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 10:06 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the Chatham neighborhood.

Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
