A boy was shot to death Wednesday afternoon in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago police.

At 5:28 p.m., someone walked up to 17-year-old Angel Maldenado and fired multiple shots at him in the 5300 block of South Paulina, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Maldenado was shot multiple times in his body and was pronounced dead on the scene. He lived in the same neighborhood where he was shot, authorities said.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
