A woman from Alabama was struck and killed by a vehicle in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village.

Stacy Jett, 24, was outside at 8:53 p.m. on May 28 when she was hit by a car in the 500 block of Busse Road, Elk Grove Village police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The car was in the right northbound lane when it struck her, according to Deputy Police Chief Michael Gaspari. The driver remained at the scene.

Jett was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she died a week later on Tuesday, authorities said.

An autopsy released Wednesday found she died of multiple injuries from the crash, the medical examiner’s office said. She was a resident of Perryville, Alabama.

Police said a male companion was with her when she was hit, but there were no other witnesses.

No citations have been issued in connection with the incident, which remains under investigation, Gaspari said.
