Charlie Gimmler caught his 27-inch, 7-pound walleye while ice fishing in late December in Eagle River, Wisconsin.

“Caught it on a big sucker on an I Fish Pro in 12 feet of water,” he messaged.

I would like to note a couple things. One is that a good variety of fish are being nominated by ice anglers. That’s not always been true and I thankful for the submissions. Keep them coming.

Second, that is a nice walleye. Keep them coming, too,

Third, I hope to be back on a regular FOTW schedule beginning with next week.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and their stories (the stories matter, as this one shows) around Chicago fishing, runs Wednesdays in the paper Sun-Times. The online posting here at https://chicago.suntimes.com/outdoors goes up at varied days of the week, depending on what is going on the wide world of the outdoors.
