A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday while walking on the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago.

Keith Hampton was walking in lanes of traffic on I-94 near 35th Street when he was struck by a car traveling south about 2:50 a.m., Illinois State Police said.

Hampton, 31, from Chicago Heights, was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police released no information about the car, describing it only as an “unknown vehicle.”

The shooting occurred in the 4100 block of South Wells Street. Three police officers and two civilians are in good condition. Two others are in critical condition.
